190 Day Contract

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree of a teacher preparation program and/or educational degree from a regionally accredited college or university; 
  • At least 12 semester or 16 quarter hours of Library Science.  This should include at least: A current Children’s or YA lit Class, a Cataloging Class, and a Collection Management Class; and 
  • Three years teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Effective organizational ability;
  • Professional written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters;
  • Detail oriented; and
  • Analytical skills.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements reading incentive programs.
  • Instructs students in library skills;
  • Instructs teachers in teaching research skills;
  • Establishes and implements policies for circulation of books, materials, and equipment;
  • Determines class schedules for library usage;
  • Accountable for books, materials, and equipment, including purchase and inventory;
  • Builds collection of media equipment for library;
  • Solicits and records requests and recommendations from teachers regarding materials for annual purchase;
  • Provides curriculum support for teachers;
  • Aligns the School Library Program (SLP) with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school/school district;
  • Re-shelves material returned from circulation;
  • Plans activities and projects for library assistants and volunteers;
  • Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
  • Performs related duties consistent with job description and assignment as assigned.

Work Hours: Work hours are established in employment contract.  Additional work hours may be assigned by the School Principal.
