Job Title:      Facilities Energy Manager

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, environmental science, business, applicable technical degree or equivalent experience; and
  • 1-3 years of experience in energy management, energy efficiency, sustainability, facility management, HVAC design, or working in a craft field such as electrical or HVAC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Energy Manager in Training;
  • Certified Energy Auditor in Training; and
  • TEMA Accredited Energy Manger in Training.

Position Description:

  • Daily monitoring of Building Automation Systems, coordinate response to comfort concerns, provide analysis and administration of all assigned Energy Management projects and functions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic Financial Management and Accounting skills;
  • Self-motivated and quick, an adaptive learner in a changing environment;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. Ability to effectively communicate with varied audiences, e.g., School Board, Principals, Staff, Directors, Consultants, and operators; and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the general operation of the Building Automation Systems to ensure proper operability and minimum energy consumption levels. Respond to occupant comfort concerns while ensuring compliance with campus climate guidelines;
  • Review all monthly utility billing for accuracy. Identify, investigate, and report on all anomalies in water, gas, and electricity consumption. Provide monthly and quarterly reports on energy metrics at the individual and building level with weather-normalized comparison per square foot;
  • Manage ENERGY STAR and other Energy Benchmarking portfolios as assigned;
  • Assist the conduct or coordinate facility site visits, retro-commissioning efforts, and ASHRAE audits (Level I & II);
  • Outreach to school administrators, maintenance, and other user on energy savings programs and initiatives. This may include reoccurring meetings as well as public and Board presentations;
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on MEP system related projects. This includes being involved in design reviews, consultant coordination, MEP Standards review and taking advantage of local energy rebate programs;
  • Provide team level support as required to support departmental operations. This may occasionally involve working extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure adequate functional coverage;
  • Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours: Normally eight hours per day, 240 days per year; additional time as may be required.
