240 Day Contract
Job Title: Director of Career Technical Education
Minimum Qualifications
- MA/MS in Education or Educational Administration;
- Current NMPED Level 3-A Teaching License;
- Exemplary teaching experience;
- Current NMPED Level 3-B Administrative License;
- Administrative, management & supervisory experience;
- A minimum of three (3) years’ of Secondary Principal or Assistant Principal experience preferred;
- Demonstrated ability to design, plan, and implement effective professional development;
- Thorough knowledge of Career Clusters and Pathways and experience in implementing CTE programs;
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills;
- Understanding and use of continuous improvement and large-scale project planning and execution;
- Thorough knowledge of the purposes and functions of Professional Learning Communities;
- Effective communication and organizational skills;
- Ability to meet deadlines, coordinate multiple projects, and supervise the work of CTE teams and Instructional Coordinators;
- Strong interpersonal skills and team contributor;
- Excellent change management skills; and
- Ability to work effectively with businesses, post-secondary institutions and workforce partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee Dual Enrollment for Rio Rancho Public Schools;
- Liaison with Rio Rancho high schools regarding CTE and Dual Credit;
- Collaborate with secondary counselors regarding CTE courses and Dual Credit;
- Coordinate and oversee Dual Enrollment programs with CNM;
- Coordinate and manage CNM Partnership to develop career pathways at the joint RRPS/CNM Career Technical Career Center. Strong focus on skilled trades;
- Meet with students in Dual Enrollment pathways;
- Help with registration to CNM classes;
- Coordinate College Dual Enrollment Textbooks;
- Promote CTE Dual Enrollment programs;
- Follow up meetings during the year with students taking Dual Enrollment classes;
- Manage (supervise) Finances for CTE programs including;
- Carl Perkins Grant
- CTE Budgets
- All grants
- Supervise the development of Career Technical Education programs for Rio Rancho Public Schools;
- Serve on Committees that promote Career Technical Education;
- Supervise the development of middle school CTE awareness;
- Work with the community to create partnerships through CTE courses/internships and apprenticeship programs that benefit Rio Rancho Public Schools;
- Supervise Job Shadowing and Internship programs;
- Work with the Public Education Department on CTE;
- Work with State Legislative committees on CTE support and programming;
- Chair the CTE Instructional Materials Committee utilizing the District instructional material process;
- Lead District-wide effort to improve secondary CTE instruction and learning;
- Coordinate all professional learning to support effective implementation of CTE;
- Support the effective use of technology within CTE;
- Report results of CTE initiatives to the RRPS School Board;
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure the horizontal coordination and vertical alignment of the District CTE vision;
- Work collaboratively with the Secondary School Improvement Officer to support school NMDASH plans;
- Collaborate with the Director of Assessment and Data Analysis in the development and analysis of data to improve CTE instruction;
- Manage multiple budgets in compliance with state and federal laws;
- Write and manage local, state, and federal grants;
- Supervise and evaluate District Office CTE staff;
- Coordinate and plan CTE meetings to communicate CTE initiatives to building administration;
- Coordinate and work with Ed Techs and IT to enhance CTE initiatives;
- Implement CTE State Standards to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Chief Academic Officer;
- Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations; and
- Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.
Work Hours
Work hours are established in employment contract. Additional work hours may be assigned by the Cheif Academic Officer or the Superintendent.
