District Office Information Technology Department
240 Day Contract
JOB TITLE: Data Interoperability Support Specialist
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required, in computer technology or a related field preferred;
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in software administration; and
- Strong background in supporting various software platforms including backup and recovery of systems, interoperability, performance tuning, upgrades, operational configurations, stored procedures, and installations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS SQL Server experience – version 2005 through current release;
- Experience working with HR, Payroll, Finance Systems, and Student Information Systems;
- Experience with Active Directory;
- Expertise in data security and security best practices;
- Experience administering SQL Server in a virtualized environment;
- Experience integrating remote servers with internal servers;
- Experience with SAP running on SQL Server a plus;
- Knowledge of data warehouse SSRS including security and data driven subscriptions a plus;
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools, including SSAS and SSIS; and
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director of Information Technology may find appropriate and acceptable.

- Demonstrated knowledge of the leading database and educational software packages and utilities;
- Proven familiarity with programming concepts and software installations
- Ability to work with minimal guidance yet work well in a collaborative environment;
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously;
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues; and
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Software Upgrades for new and existing applications - to include: Aludo, HMH, Clever, Easy Bridge, Remind, Follett, Naviance, Iready, Amplify, Santillana, Testing platforms, Google Classroom, Adobe Creative Suite, Power School Special Ed, etc.;
- System support for systems like Follett Destiny- New for Elementary Schools in January (Destiny Manager) Alludo, Lightspeed Classroom/Relay - considering for teachers and chromebooks;
- Inventory, document and catalog existing software/databases;
- Design, develop, install, test, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain new and existing databases and software products, considering both back-end organizations of data and front-end accessibility for end-users, including developing data structures, queries, stored procedures, and many other artifacts;
- Monitor and improve database performance, including stored procedures and execution times, and other methods;
- Provide developers/users with info and feedback when queries or jobs overtax the servers;
- Assist network, C&I and data personnel with upgrades;
- Keep involved in relevant forums and newsgroups;
- Implement, configure, test, and troubleshoot database/software instances, replication, backup, restores, storage, disaster recovery and access;
- Ensure that backups are adequate and that critical backups such as end of year are stored safely and can be retrieved – this could involve having older versions of Oracle available;
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly;
- Set user privileges and access permissions within the database/software environment;
- Maintain SQL scripts, batch scripts, Shell Scripting, secure file transfers, and application specific production jobs on Windows platform across enterprise;
- Identify areas of risk and develop plan of action to mitigate those risks;
- Plan and coordinate data migrations between system;
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases;
- Install and configure relevant components to ensure secure database access as well as database consistency and integrity;
- Write documentation, including standards, entity relationships, procedures and definitions, best practices, user manuals and training materials;
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security;
- Provide assistance to others in topics related to data management;
- Confer with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements;
- Prepare detailed specifications as determined, analyzing current and new systems from which code will be written;
- Prepare and provide SQL reports, as requested;
- May be required to perform maintenance work and/or be on-call to troubleshoot problems that may occur, during off-hours, and on weekends or holidays; and
- Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.
