Job Title:  Education Technology Specialist (ETS)

 

Job Goal

  • To provide technology professional development and support to staff;
  • To coordinate and manage the use of technology to facilitate the collection, analysis, and processing of critical student assessment data;
  • To promote, coordinate, and manage the integration of technology in support of school curriculum with the goal of improving student achievement.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current NM Teaching License (Level II or Level III; Level III preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Advanced Degree in Education Technology Preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Teaching experience in integrating technology and curriculum;
  • Experience with multimedia tools (LCD panels, projection systems, digital cameras, etc.);
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Working knowledge of PC computers and software;
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels of technology experience;
  • Ability to provide technology instruction in both groups and one-on-one;
  • Motivated to grow with this position;
  • Willingness to conduct and participate in district and school technology meetings;
  • Willingness to travel among schools to work with other Education Technology Specialists for training and collaboration;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem solving skills;
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others;
  • Organized work habits and project management skills;
  • Strong skills in working both alone and in teams;
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the School Principal and the Executive Director of Information Technology may find appropriate and acceptable.  

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technology training and support to staff (individuals, small groups, entire faculties, and administration) with emphasis on the integration of technology into the curriculum in both classroom and lab settings.  All training must follow current local, state, and national benchmarks, standards, and assessment, and may include assistive technology.  The emphasis is on the use of technology as a learning tool;
  • Provide support to staff in the use of curriculum software packages;
  • Provide support to staff in the use of assessment and instructional management system software;
  • Coordinate and execute the collection and analysis of critical data using technology;
  • Provide needed technical and data intensive reports;
  • Maintain appropriate hardware and software inventories for the school site;
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot curriculum software;
  • Work with site-based committees to develop a school technology plan and budget;
  • Research, evaluate, and procure appropriate computer software and peripherals;
  • Provide initial, basic technical support in the administration and maintenance of all computer hardware, software, and networks;
  • Serve on the district technology committee as required and have representation on other district committees as appropriate;
  • Assist district departments and school committees in the preparation of grants involving technology;
  • Collaborate on a regular basis with other Education Technology Specialists and other personnel in designing and implementing technology staff development;
  • Assist in writing the district technology plan;
  • Attend conferences and other professional development opportunities to continue the district’s growth in technology and curriculum integration;
  • Perform related duties consistent with job description and assignment.

Work Hours:

Work hours are established in employment contract.  Additional work hours may be assigned by the School Principal within the parameters of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
